Kältemittel 410a oder R-410a ist das führende HFC-Kältemittel als Ersatz für R-22 in Verdränger-Klimaanlagen und Wärmepumpensystemen für Wohnhäuser und kleine Gewerbebetriebe. Es hat eine höhere Kühlleistung und einen deutlich höheren Druck als R-22 und sollte nur in Systemen verwendet werden, die speziell für R-410A ausgelegt sind. Trägt im Gegensatz zu R-22 nicht zum Ozonabbau bei. Für Freon™ 410A ausgelegte Geräte haben eine bis zu 60 % höhere Kapazität als aktuelle R-22-Geräte. Klimaanlagen mit Freon™ 410A können die lokalen Richtlinien zur Energieeffizienz erfüllen oder übertreffen.

Das Kältemittel R-410a wurde 1991 von Honeywell erfunden und patentiert. Carrier Corporation war das erste Unternehmen, das R-410a einführte. Klimaanlagen wurden 1996 auf den Privatmarkt gebracht und besitzen den Markennamen „Puron“. 410A ist als HFC-Kältemittel klassifiziert, enthält kein Chlor und ist nicht ozonschädigend.

R-410a ersetzte R-22 als Hauptkältemittel für private und gewerbliche Klimaanlagen, Gefrierschränke und Kühlschränke. Seit 2010 dürfen keine neuen Klimaanlagen mehr mit R-22 hergestellt werden, alle zukünftigen Maschinen müssen R-410a verwenden. . R-410a bietet große Chancen und ist kurzfristig die Zukunft privater und gewerblicher Anwendungen.

Allerdings ist R-410a ein HFC-Kältemittel und hat daher ein hohes Treibhauspotenzial. R-134a ist ein Verwandter von 410A und wird aufgrund seines hohen Treibhauspotenzials in vielen Ländern verboten. Es ist nur eine Frage der Zeit, bis auch 410A aus dem Verkehr gezogen wird. HFO-Kältemittel werden die Zukunft sein. Sie werden voraussichtlich teuer sein.
