Der digital programmierbare Thermostat muss ein Braeburn-Thermostat mit der Modellnummer 2020NC sein, 3,62 Zoll hoch x 4,72 Zoll breit x 1,38 Zoll tief und unabhängig entweder mit 24 Volt Wechselstrom oder mit zwei „AA“-Alkalibatterien (3,0 Volt Gleichstrom) betrieben. Der Thermostat muss mit einstufigen Gas-, Öl- oder elektrischen Heiz- oder Kühlsystemen kompatibel sein, einschließlich einstufiger Wärmepumpen und 250-mV-750-mV-Millivolt-Heizsystemen. Für eine problemlose Installation muss der Thermostat über ein Display mit heller blauer Hintergrundbeleuchtung und einen separaten Unterbau verfügen. Der Temperaturkontrollbereich muss zwischen 45° und 90° F (7° und 32° C) liegen, die Genauigkeit beträgt +/- 1° F (+/- 0,5° C), der Feuchtigkeitsbereich liegt zwischen 5 % und 95 % relativer Luftfeuchtigkeit. Der Thermostat muss über einen nichtflüchtigen Speicher zum Speichern von Benutzereinstellungen, einstellbare Temperaturgrenzen, einen Filterprüfmonitor, einen adaptiven Wiederherstellungsmodus (ARM) und separate Heiz- und Kühlsollwertprogrammzeiten und -temperaturen verfügen.
